Thank you for your interest in submitting a film to the Psychedelic Cinematheque at Psychedelic Science 2025 on June 16-20, 2025 in Denver, CO.

Please read this entire FAQ before submitting so that your film can receive the best consideration.

Film Submission FAQ

What is the Psychedelic Cinematheque? 

A 4-day celebration of psychedelic cinema within the larger PS2025 conference.

Where can I learn about Psychedelic Science 2025, in general?

You can learn about the conference at psychedelicscience.org, and also by following @psychedelicscience on social media.

Who should use the film submission form?

While there are many opportunities for participation at PS2025, this particular form can only be used to submit a film for consideration at the Psychedelic Cinematheque.

What kinds of films are you looking for? 

Submissions are open to psychedelic-focused films of all styles, subjects, and lengths.

How do I know if I’m eligible to submit? 

While the Cinematheque focuses on new work, films of any completion date are eligible for submission.

Work that has previously been screened online may be considered, however, priority is given to work that has not already reached a wide audience.

When does the call for submissions open and close?

The primary call for submissions will be open January 15, 2025 until February 28, 2025  11:59pm PST.

All submissions will receive a response by April 15, 2025.

When is the Cinematheque? How many films will you be screening? 

Films will be screened in a dedicated screening room on the following days (exact times and number of programs, TBD).

- Thursday, June 19, 2025

- Friday, June 20, 2025

Will I have the opportunity to accompany my film to the conference and take part in a Q&A? 

Yes! We hope you accompany your film to the PS2025. Introductions and Q&As will be scheduled in. 

Do you pay Screening Fees, honoraria or speaking fees?

PS2025 does not pay screening fees, honoraria or speaking fees.

What do I need to prepare to make a submission?

May I make multiple submissions?

Yes, anyone is welcome to make multiple submissions. 

May I make a submission via email?

No, we are not able to consider proposals submitted via email.  Please make all submissions using the form.

How will a decision be communicated to me?

You will receive a decision via the email address that you used in your contact information from @psychedelicscience.org.

Please ensure that you have whitelisted @psychedelicscience.org in your email program so that you will receive the notice. If our email is stuck in your spam folder, we will have no way of communicating with you.

May I speak with someone to ask for advice, or explain more about my submission?If declined, will a reason be provided, or can I speak with someone about the decision?

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer individual advice about proposals, explanations of decisions, or responses to inquiries seeking reconsideration.

How will a decision be communicated to me?

Yes, all confirmed films will receive two (2) complimentary registrations to the conference. If you have already paid for a registration and are subsequently confirmed as a filmmaker, you may request a refund.

Please note that some event features, such as food & beverage, workshops, banquets, and other add-ons will incur additional cost(s).

If selected, will travel and lodging be provided?

Filmmakers typically support their own travel and lodging.  More information about travel and lodging policies will be communicated to confirmed films. If our email is stuck in your spam folder, we will have no way of communicating with you.

If I intend to submit a film, should I register and make travel arrangements now, or wait until I receive a decision about my submission?

We encourage everyone to register and book their travel and lodging arrangements at their earliest convenience as prices for registration, travel, and lodging will increase over time. If you have already paid for a registration and are subsequently confirmed as a selected filmmaker, you may request a refund.

How can I ask additional questions about submitting a film?

Submission Guidelines - Deliverables

Accepted filmmakers must submit their movie files by April 25, 2025 for screening at the conference. Please format all movie files as .mov with H.264 codec file. All films screening at the conference must include a .srt file. If the primary language is not English, then you must provide an open subtitled version for screening. The filmmaker is responsible for all shipping and insurance costs.

DCP is not a required screening format; however, we may request a DCP for screening in some instances.

We will also be asking you for film stills, director headshots, bios and other information for our programs and website. 

You are responsible for updating the Cinematheque directly regarding any change to your contact information and ensuring that emails from @psychedlicscience domain are not blocked by spam filters.

Due to the volume and size of our staff, feedback is not provided regarding films chosen or not chosen for inclusion in the Cinematheque.

Submission Guidelines - Additional Terms of Entry

In consideration of the possibility of being selected to participate in Psychedelic Science 2025 (“PS2025”), presented by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (“MAPS”), I agree to the following terms and conditions by submitting this application.

I own or control the copyright to the film submitted herein (the “Film”) and hold all necessary rights to fulfill the obligations and requirements for participation in PS2025, including those required for screening and marketing in connection with PS2025. I am fully authorized to submit the Film to PS2025. In the event of a change in ownership or rights to the Film, the rights granted herein shall remain valid and enforceable.

The Film contains no material that could give rise to claims of tort, royalties, breach of contract, infringement, violation of privacy rights, or any other claims whatsoever.

If the Film is selected for screening at the PS2025, I grant the organizers of PS2025, including Psychedelic Science Events, LLC and Superfly Marketing Group, LLC, (the “Organizers”) the right to screen the Film in Denver, CO, from June 16-20, 2025. If selected, I understand and agree that the Film may be used for promotional purposes related to PS2025. I further grant the Organizers the right to use up to two minutes of footage, photographic stills, titles, and information from the Film for such promotional purposes.

The Organizers and their respective designees reserve the right to film, record, and take photographs during PS2025. I hereby grant the organizers and their designees an irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free license to use photographic stills, excerpts from the Film, and my name, likeness, image, and voice (as well as those of my employees and contractors participating in PS2025), as they may appear in the materials described in the previous sentence, in any and all media, now known or hereafter devised, throughout the universe.

I will not use any trademarks, logos, service marks, copyrights, or other intellectual property of PS2025, the Organizers, or MAPS without the prior written consent of an authorized designee of PS2025 in each instance, whose consent may be withheld at its sole discretion.

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Organizers and their respective principals, shareholders, members, partners, officers, directors, employees, representatives, tenants, agents, contractors, parent companies, subsidiaries, and volunteers (collectively the “Organizer Indemnitees”) from any and all damages, claims, losses, costs, expenses (including attorneys' fees), obligations, liabilities, actions, and causes of action, whether threatened or actual, arising directly or indirectly from: (a) my acts, omissions, or defaults, (b) Any damage to or loss of the Film during transport to or from PS2025, or while in possession of PS2025, (c) Any legal claims arising from the Film, including claims of infringement or violation of privacy rights. In the event of a claim, I agree to bear all defense costs incurred by the Organizer Indemnities and pay any damages awarded. I also agree to reimburse the Organizer Indemnities for any attorney fees incurred in defending such claims.

If selected, I understand that PS2025 and the Organizers reserve the right to place my Film in the appropriate competition category.

To the best of my knowledge, all statements in this submission are accurate. I understand that submission of the Film does not guarantee acceptance to screen the Film at PS2025, and that PS2025 and its Organizers reserve the right to accept or deny my application for screening for any reason, for any reason. Furthermore, the Organizers reserve the right to revoke any acceptance at their sole discretion.
